Fertilizer Program Information

The Commonwealth's fertilizer program is overseen and regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry. 

Revisions to the Fertilizer Law

In July 2022, the Pennsylvania Fertilizer Law was amended to include additional provisions that apply to all guarantors, manufacturers, and applicators of fertilizer. The current Act 83 of July 11, 2022 (P.L. 1538, No. 83, Chapter 68) replaces the previous Law as written under Chapter 67.

A summary list of the impacted items is listed below.

    • Enhanced Label and Labeling requirements
    • Changes to turf fertilizer components
    • Addition of turf fertilizer application rates
    • Application Restrictions
    • Amendment to fees

EVERYONE, INCLUDING HOMEOWNERS, RESIDENTS, AND LAWN CARE PROFESSIONALS, MUST COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE FERTILIZER LAW.
